- After the cargo raised suspicions, customs authorities and specialized police units inspected the containers between August 6 and August 8, subsequently launching a criminal investigation into violations of protected animal regulations.
- Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyen Duc Chi commended the units involved, crediting the interception to close coordination between customs forces and police in combating wildlife smuggling and maintaining national security.
- While this marks the largest recent seizure in the central region, Vietnam remains a hub for illicit wildlife trade, with much contraband transhipped to China or satisfying demand in Southeast Asian countries.
