A fast-moving winter storm caused gusts up to 110 km/h, resulting in around 8,000 Alberta residents losing power and damaging roofs and trees, officials said.

- Environment and Climate Change Canada warned of strong northwest winds with gusts between 90 and 110 km/h and up to 20 cm of snow in Calgary, Banff, Strathmore, Waterton Lakes, and Vulcan.
- Outage maps also show Epcor reported nearly 2,000 customers in Crestwood, Grovenor, Parkview, and River Valley Capitol Hill are without power.
- Police warned residents shortly before 12:30 p.m. to avoid travel due to reduced visibility from strong winds and snow, while utilities aim to restore power later Sunday and advised staying 10 metres from downed lines.
- High-Sided vehicles face risks as special weather statements warn of gusts up to 90 km/h in the Fraser Valley, threatening roofs, fences, trees and soft shelters.
