Daigneault, Bickerstaff, Few confirmed as USA Basketball assistant coaches for Olympic cycle
The appointments add continuity from the 2024 Olympic staff as USA Basketball builds toward the 2027 World Cup and 2028 Los Angeles Games.
- The USA Basketball Board of Directors approved assistant coaches Mark Daigneault, Bickerstaff, and Mark Few to serve on Erik Spoelstra's staff for the 2027 Basketball World Cup in Qatar and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics on Thursday.
- USA Basketball managing director Grant Hill announced the picks, marking the second step in assembling the leadership team after Spoelstra's hiring as head coach for the first time.
- Daigneault and Bickerstaff join Few, the Gonzaga coach who previously served as an assistant alongside Spoelstra under former U.S. coach Steve Kerr during the 2024 Olympic cycle.
- Spoelstra emphasized the need for early organization, saying, "We wanted to try to zero in on this a little bit earlier in the process so we can start to get more organized and have some level of communication and continuity."
- Hill will now focus on assembling the roster for the 2027 Basketball World Cup, continuing the leadership assembly process toward the next international competition cycle.
