Dacia’s Tiny EV Keeps Its Name, But Not Much Else
- Dacia has officially confirmed its next-generation small electric city car will be named "New Spring," maintaining the brand's focus on affordable motoring. The successor builds on the original model, which has sold nearly 210,000 units across Europe since 2021.
- Unlike the current China-built vehicle, Dacia will manufacture the New Spring in Europe. The design adopts a tougher, squarer look mirroring the Dacia Duster and Bigster models while retaining essentials like four seats and a proper boot.
- Under the skin, the New Spring will share technology with the Renault Twingo E-Tech Electric. It could feature a small LFP battery of around 27.5kWh and offer a range of up to 163 miles.
- Facing competition from the £14,495 Leapmotor T03, Dacia aims to keep the New Spring below £16,000. Eligibility for the Electric Car Grant, offering either £1,500 or £3,750, could enhance affordability.
