Thai airstrikes followed Cambodian attacks that killed soldiers, escalating a century-old border dispute and displacing over 125,000 people, officials said.
- On Dec. 8, the Royal Thai Army launched airstrikes along the disputed border, with the Royal Thai Air Force saying F-16s bombed Cambodian military targets.
- Thai military said early-morning fighting in Ubon Ratchathani province left one soldier killed and four wounded, prompting strikes after Thailand halted parts of the ceasefire last month following a landmine incident.
- More than 385,000 civilians are being evacuated across four border districts, with over 35,000 housed in temporary shelters, while Cambodia's defence ministry said at least four civilians were killed in Oddar Meanchey province.
- Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim urged both sides to exercise restraint, Cambodia's Ministry of National Defence condemned Thailand's actions, and Bangkok said operations would continue to neutralise threats.
- The long-running border dispute has repeatedly flared, including a five-day war in July that killed 43 and displaced around 300,000, while the October ceasefire in Kuala Lumpur witnessed by U.S. President Donald Trump began fraying within weeks.

As per Cambodia's Information Ministry, at least seven civilians were killed in attacks overnight and this morning with another 20 people injured. Thailand, meanwhile, said that two more of its soldiers were killed in the latest border clashes raising the Thai death toll to three since December 7.
