The Czech Republic has joined a joint statement by more than two dozen countries that consider the plan to build Jewish settlements east of Jerusalem in the Israeli-occupied West Bank to be a violation of international law, the Foreign Ministry said. According to it, this is a logical continuation of the long-standing and consistent Czech position.
The Israeli government has approved the construction of additional Jewish settlements in the West Bank. Approximately 3,400 housing units are to be built in the East 1 area. Over twenty countries, including the Czech Republic, consider the construction a violation of international law.
