Cutter Gauthier’s OT goal lifts Ducks over Golden Knights
Anaheim preserved a two-point lead in the Pacific Division as Cutter Gauthier scored the overtime winner following a turnover by Vegas star Mitch Marner.
- On Saturday night, Cutter Gauthier scored in overtime to give the Anaheim Ducks a 4-3 win over the Vegas Golden Knights at Honda Center, preserving first place in the Pacific Division.
- Capitalizing on an unforced turnover by Vegas forward Mitch Marner behind his net, the Ducks created the chance after a momentum shift, as Marner's misplayed backhand pass set up Gauthier's decisive wrist shot.
- Early in the contest, four goals came quickly and five were scored in the opening 20 minutes, leaving the visitors with a 3-2 edge, while Akira Schmid stopped 29 shots to preserve Anaheim's chances.
- The Ducks now own a 6-1 record in games past regulation, while Anaheim won three of four and Vegas stretched its points streak to six games.
