Havana, Cuba’s president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, said this weekend that the new “act of piracy and maritime terrorism” in the Caribbean by the United States against a ship loaded with oil from Venezuela deserves “total global condemnation” and is a serious violation of international law.
The Wall Street Journal reports that communist-ruled Cuba is struggling with a serious economic crisis, and the situation in the country is getting worse as the United States has blocked oil tankers going to and from Venezuela. The oil money of the Nicolás Maduro regime has previously helped keep the struggling Cuban economy afloat.
