Crypto researchers cut Bitcoin and Ethereum quantum attack estimate by 50%
AI agents cut the cost of a quantum-attack step on Bitcoin by 86%
Over 100 researchers utilizing AI coding agents were able to lower the resource score in a very important part of quantum attack against Bitcoin by 86.1%, according to a paper published on September 9. This development is not a breakthrough in hacking Bitcoin or recovering a private key. Rather, it illustrates that only software optimization...
A collective of researchers has just divided by more than two the estimated quantum cost to break the cryptography of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). An advance that brings the famous Q-Day closer together and pushes both networks to speed up their post-quantum preparations already underway. Quantum article: the cost of an attack on Bitcoin and Ethereum reduced by half in 2 months has appeared first on Cryptoast.
A new investigation has reduced by more than half the estimate of resources needed to execute a critical stage of a future quantum attack against Bitcoin and Ethereum, relative to the benchmark published by Google Quantum AI in March. The advance does not mean that either of the two networks can currently be violated, [...] The entry Researchers reduce more than 50% the estimate of resources needed to attack Bitcoin and Ethereum with quantum com…
Researchers have more than halved the resource calculation required for the key step of a potential quantum attack on Bitcoin and Ethereum, compared to Google's March benchmark. The new circuit requires fewer logical qubits and Toffoli operations in this step. However, no machine can crack Bitcoin or Ethereum today, and according to the authors, the real urgency stems from the fact that a quantum-resistant transition will take years.
