Crypto Liquidations Cross $1 Billion in 24 Hours as Bitcoin Dips to $80,350
More than 180,000 traders were liquidated as forced selling spread across major tokens and short-term holders sent 55,600 BTC to exchanges at a loss.
On Friday, crypto liquidations reached $1.1 billion after Bitcoin dropped to $80,350 on Bitstamp, marking the largest daily tally since August 21 when volatility triggered $1.3 billion in short liquidations.
Short-Term holders sent 55,600 BTC to exchanges at a loss on Thursday, while reports emerged of the Treasury moving more than 12,000 BTC that it had previously confiscated.
More than 180,000 traders were liquidated over 24 hours, including $940 million in long positions, as major crypto assets fell 3% to 5% with Ethereum near $2,400 and BNB around $720.
Bitcoin briefly traded below $82,000 before reclaiming the level on Friday, though analyst Rekt Capital warned that a weekly close below $82,500 would push BTC back into its Macro Accumulation Range.
Rising Treasury yields, a stronger dollar, and broader risk aversion may continue to pressure high-beta assets, while investors question whether BTC can withstand unstable Bitcoin ETF flows and a less favorable macro backdrop.
