Crowdstrike buys Israeli co Seraphic Security for $420m
CrowdStrike will integrate Seraphic's browser runtime security into its Falcon platform to address threats like session hijacking and shadow AI, with browsers covering 85% of work time.
- On Tuesday, CrowdStrike announced it will acquire Seraphic Security, the Israeli browser runtime security provider founded by Ilan Yeshua and Avihay Cohen, for about $420 million.
- Because browsers now host most workdays, CrowdStrike cited data that 85% of work time is spent in web browsers, with generative AI raising new security risks and traditional methods missing runtime threats.
- Seraphic's technology runs inside Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox, monitoring session activity to detect post-authentication threats and will integrate into CrowdStrike's Falcon platform by fiscal 2027.
- CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz said the deal supports Zero Standing Privilege, expanding beyond endpoint detection to protect contractors and personal-device users.
- Last week CrowdStrike moved again with its $740 million SGNL deal, adding to its $829 million Israeli investments and over $1 billion, while Palo Alto Networks is planning to acquire Koi Security.
