Cristian Roldan’s deflected finish gave Seattle its third straight win and extended the Sounders’ unbeaten run to eight matches, according to team records.
On Thursday, Seattle Sounders midfielder Cristian Roldan scored in the 90th minute to secure a 2-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City, with the decisive goal deflecting off a cross from Jordan Morris into the net.
Luiz opened the scoring for Sporting Kansas City in the 44th minute after Stephen Afrifa deflected a clearance attempt deep in Seattle's end, allowing the ball to fall to Luiz for the finish.
Second-Half substitute Sebastian Gomez tied the match at 1-all in the 51st minute, scoring off an assist from Morris, who poked the ball to Gomez after running past the defense.
The Sounders extended their unbeaten run to eight games and won their third straight contest, moving into seventh in the Western Conference with 11 goals tallied in their last five contests.
Sporting Kansas City returns home to play Portland on Oct. 10, while Seattle travels to face New England that same date; the Sounders remain undefeated since August against Austin.
