Crash between HGV and car on A1(M) in County Durham leads to two miles of congestion

A stretch of the A1(M) in County Durham had two miles of traffic tailbacks on Monday (February 12) morning. Emergency services attended at about 7am, following a crash between a car and a HGV. No one was injured during the crash, but the road was partly shut off Northbound between Chester-le-Street and Picktree. The road has since fully reopened - but at the time of writing (8.50am) some congestion still exists in patches.
