The Council of State has strongly criticized the government's plan to limit the number of flights at Schiphol. According to the Council, the government is not protecting the residents of the airport sufficiently against the nuisance of air traffic. And furthermore: is free public transport good for the climate?
Council of State recommends better substantiation of Schiphol's shrinkage plan
The cabinet must substantiate its plans for the reduction of Schiphol better, according to the Council of State. In the current proposal of Minister Barry Madlener (Infrastructure) it is not yet clear enough how the fundamental rights of local residents are protected with this number of flight movements.
