Costco Plans to Launch Medicare Products for Senior Members
The limited rollout will offer senior-focused plans that connect with Costco pharmacy, vision and hearing services and will be sold through stores, agents and websites.
On Tuesday, Costco and nonprofit insurer SCAN Group announced a partnership to launch Costco-branded Medicare Advantage plans, with the product currently awaiting federal regulatory approval.
This move extends Costco's 'we vet it for you' reputation into the $600 billion Medicare market; Costco CEO Ron Vachris said the company seeks to build on existing trust across its 626 U.S. stores.
The companies plan a limited rollout in two states for Medicare Advantage plans and a third state for a Medicare supplement, though federal rules prohibit including a free warehouse membership.
Until federal regulators approve the products, beneficiaries won't know specific premiums, provider networks, or state locations; SCAN Group CEO Sachin Jain noted the goal is to redesign the Medicare Advantage experience with an 'exquisite focus on member value.'
Building on an existing relationship where Costco provides pharmacy and hearing services to SCAN members, this initiative enters a competitive sector where over 35 million people were enrolled in Medicare Advantage as of February 1, 2026.
