North Liberty woman arrested for alleged scheme to steal items at Coralville Hy-Vee

A North Liberty woman is facing charges after police said she used a phony UPC code in the Hy-Vee self-checkout lanes to steal more than $1,100 worth of items over a period of nearly three months.

Coralville woman charged with scamming grocery stores

Hunter 01/02/25 A Coralville woman was arrested after an investigation discovered she’d been defrauding two area Hy-Vee stores. The incidents reportedly involve 43-year-old Abigail Kite of 7th Avenue. Police say between October 17th and December 2nd, she went to the Hy-Vee locations on Crosspark Avenue and 8th Street in Coralville  and used the self-scanner to check out.
