As the price of copper approaches $15,000 per ton, the London Metal Exchange is poised to extend its winning streak into an eleventh week. Shipments to the US, a weak dollar, and data center demand are supporting prices, but Natixis has warned that the rise is based on speculative factors and cautioned of a "bubble risk."
Natixis analyst Bernard Dahdah warned about copper, whose price has been rising for 11 weeks. Using the analogy of a "bubble," Dahdah pointed out that the factors supporting the price increase are fragile.
As the price of a ton of copper nears $15K, there are growing questions about the continuation of the rise. The metal, which is poised for its 11th straight weekly gain on the London Metal Exchange, is supported by expectations for U.S. shipments narrowing supply in other regions, a weak dollar and data center demand. Natixis, however, points out the risk of bubbles.
