Cooling centers opened ahead of expected sweltering day

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — To combat the heat, officials in Providence are opening several cooling centers. In addition to those cooling centers, the city’s pools and splash pads will be open for extended hours. While they normally close at 5 p.m., residents can now use them until 7 this evening.
