Winthrop advances to first boys hockey state title game since 1976

BILLERICA — Saturday’s 5-1 win over top-seeded Stoneham was nearly 50 years in the making for the Winthrop High boys hockey team. The Vikings last appearance in the state championship was in 1976. A mere 49 years later, Winthrop booked its date at TD Garden against No. 6 Dedham in the Div. 4 finals.
