Ukraine Recovery Conference Secures More than €10 Billion in Deals
Ukraine expects more than 160 agreements worth over €10 billion as the European Union releases the first tranche of a large loan.
On Thursday and Friday, the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdańsk concluded with more than 160 agreements signed worth over 10 billion euros, spanning energy, transport, and defence sectors.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced on Thursday that the European Union transferred the first 3.2-billion-euro tranche of a 90-billion-euro loan to Kyiv for defence and energy resilience.
The European Commission launched the European Flagship Fund backed by Poland, France, Germany, and Italy to mobilize up to 1 billion euros, while the World Bank raised another $2 billion for its Special Program.
Major Polish energy companies Orlen, PGE, Enea, and Tauron signed agreements to rebuild Ukrainian infrastructure, while Naftogaz concluded joint gas sector projects with Orlen.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk struck a conciliatory tone, stating "Ukraine rightly wants to be part of a United Europe," as the conference sought to strengthen future ties amid diplomatic tensions.
