On Saturday, 16 July, an interim judge ordered the Minister of Justice to put an end to "contradictory behaviour" committed by officers against detainees in the Orne prison, particularly in his district dedicated to organized crime.
In a decision of the Administrative Court of Caen, the judge mentions "insulting, racist and supremacist statements", the violence and humiliations noted in May during an unannounced visit by the general controller of places of deprivation of liberty.
The International Prison Observatory (IOP) had referred the matter to the courts after the publication in early July of a particularly severe report on the actions of prison staff.
A judge ordered the Keeper of Seals to stop the violence and bullying in Condé-sur-Sarthe prison. Humiliating searches and supremacist comments were raised by the Comptroller General of Places of Deprivation of Liberty.
A report by the General Controller of Places of Deprivation at the beginning of July denounced "systemic violence" at the high-security prison in Condé-sur-Sarthe.
