The dismay caused by the news of the death of Pope Francis and the concentration of international leaders that took place during his funerals again highlighted that, despite its internal tensions and growing secularization in society, the Catholic Church remains the main spiritual guide of the world and an instance that plays a decisive role in influencing the world scene.

The cardinals of the Catholic Church enter the conclave on Wednesday with their own ideas. The conservatives want a Pope who restores order to the moral structure of the Church, promotes clarity in the doctrine and a traditional compass is in troubled times.
