Coalition makes first major school announcement with training college network
The Coalition plans to build 12 new technical colleges to help school students develop in-demand skills, targeting regions with skill shortages or high youth unemployment.
Opposition leader Peter Dutton stated that these colleges will help train the future workforce in various sectors, including housing and infrastructure.
Sussan Ley, Coalition spokesperson, emphasized the need for more vocational education, noting that only 1% of Australian students pursue school-based apprenticeships, much fewer than in other countries.
The Coalition aims to restore apprentices and trainees to over 400,000, with financial incentives for businesses hiring new apprentices.
