Hackers Praise Hamas, Use Profanity Against Trump, Netanyahu over Airport Public Address Systems
Hackers disrupted airport operations by broadcasting pro-Hamas propaganda and anti-Israel and U.S. leader messages at four airports, causing flight delays, Transport Canada said.
- On Tuesday, hackers breached public-address systems and flight-information screens at Harrisburg International Airport, Kelowna International Airport, and Victoria International Airport, disrupting operations.
- Investigators traced the intrusion to a third-party cloud software provider, with `Turkish hacker Cyber Islam` calling itself and screens displaying `Hacked By Mutariff Siberislam`.
- Passengers recorded unauthorized messages praising Hamas and insulting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Donald Trump, while flight screens showed militants and the text `ISRAEL LOST THE WAR, HAMAS WON THE WAR HONORABLY`.
- Kelowna International Airport reported two delayed flights, one delayed for two hours and the other by four, while Transport Canada and federal regulators launched coordinated investigations with the RCMP and FAA.
- The incident comes as the travel industry faces a recent onslaught of cyberattacks and follows last week's ceasefire brokered by Mr. Trump, experts warn.
