Club Brugge plans to move to its new stadium not in 2028, but only in the summer of 2029. “It can’t be done any sooner,” says chairman Bart Verhaeghe in an extensive interview appearing on HLN this evening. “We want to do everything thoroughly. That is why we opted for a ‘floating roof’.”
The Club de Bruges has decidedly known many detours on the road leading to its new stadium, which must be built in the years to come after all the authorizations have taken much longer than expected to be obtained. And while the inauguration was expected in 2028, Bart Verhaeghe announces a new deadline.
After a twenty-year wait, it seems Club Brugge can finally begin construction of its new stadium. The Blue-Blacks are no longer aiming for a move in 2028, but plan the opening of the long-awaited stadium for the summer of 2029. Chairman Bart Verhaeghe confirms that work can truly get underway early next year. The project is expected to cost around 200 million euros.
