Anthropic Just Taught Claude to Dream Between Tasks, and It Makes Agents Meaningfully Smarter

Anthropic says Dreaming will review past sessions and lock learnings into agent memory, while Outcomes and Multiagent Orchestration move into beta.

  • Anthropic announced three new upgrades to Claude Managed Agents this week, including the research preview of Dreaming, a feature designed to help agents self-improve by reviewing past sessions for patterns.
  • Operating between active sessions, Dreaming reviews previous conversations, logged memory, and completed tasks to extract patterns, ensuring every new session starts with context of what worked previously.
  • Alongside Dreaming, Anthropic introduced Outcomes, which uses a separate grader to evaluate agent output against a rubric, and Multiagent Orchestration, allowing a lead agent to delegate complex tasks to specialized agents.
  • Companies like Netflix are already deploying Multiagent Orchestration, while developers can use Webhooks to receive notifications upon task completion; these features are currently available in public beta on the Claude Platform.
  • As Anthropic expands its toolset, the broader industry is shifting; Google recently shut down its autonomous web browsing agent, Project Mariner, marking a pivot in competitive AI development.
