The director of Civil Protection and Emergencies, Virginia Barcones, announced this Sunday that the wave of fires that has affected Spain throughout the month of August has ended. “This tragic episode in the history of Spain has ended,” Barcones said.
The wave of fires in Spain is about to end, with a drop in temperatures and a few rains. Nearly 400,000 hectares will have been devastated.
On Saturday, however, seven fires remained active, six of which were classified at operational level 2, which means that they still pose a danger to people and homes.
