Maarja Rannama: road maintenance needs more money and smarter solutions

If we want our national roads to be safe, comfortable and sustainable for decades to come, we need to make smart decisions now. Maintaining the road network is not just an internal issue for the construction or transport sector, it is part of a broader social, economic and security policy responsibility, writes Maarja Rannama.

The Minister of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing (CIV), Miguel Díaz Bobadilla, reported that road infrastructure projects that had been suspended last year are being reactivated, currently reaching 85-90% of physical execution. He indicated that progress is being made in the second phase of COVIAL, which will begin in June.
