Comparing foreign trade and tax authority data, it appears that if Austrian stone or gravel was transported somewhere, it most likely came from mines contaminated with asbestos.
The suspicion concerns the Anton-Freunschlag-Gasse, Bertégasse, Wernergasse and Stieglergasse in Vienna-Liesing, as well as the Rosenhügelstraße, which runs from Meidling via Hietzing to Liesing.
Laboratory results confirm asbestos in road surfaces, which are now to be sealed quickly. Controls have also been tightened.
According to findings of asbestos-containing rock material, the city of Vienna takes immediate measures in individual road sections.
