Military officer of the day: City Councilor Zwickau

On Thursday, the city council of Zwickau lifted a decision not to allow advertising for the Bundeswehr on urban areas. The BSW, which had submitted the application in January, also agreed to this.

After months of debate, the Zwickau City Council has revoked a twice-passed ban on advertising for the Bundeswehr. The municipal supervisory authority had deemed the original decision unlawful and pointed to constitutional limitations.

The advertising ban for the Bundeswehr adopted by the Zwickau City Council is not right and violates the Basic Law. Under pressure from the legal authorities, the City Council has now collected the ban for the majority of the time.
