Cisco’s Network Controller to Help Build Scalable Quantum Networks

Cisco’s network controller to help build scalable quantum networks

Cisco has developed a new network controller that lets quantum networks scale and is looking for design partners to develop it further.

Cisco quantum network controller lets apps order entanglement on demand

Cisco has built a Quantum Network Controller, a research prototype that lets an application ask a quantum network for entanglement and leaves the network to work out the delivery. Entanglement, a linked quantum state shared between distant points, is the resource these networks distribute, and operators today set up the hardware that produces it device by device, link by link. Single quantum processors still hold fewer qubits than the work requi…

Cisco Builds Software To Run Quantum Networks Without Manual Setup

Cisco’s Quantum Network Controller is a research prototype, exploring software to transform quantum devices into programmable infrastructure.

Cisco readies new control plane for quantum networks

Cisco continues to fill out its portfolio of quantum network technology, this week adding a core control mechanism for distributed quantum networks. Cisco’s prototype Quantum Network Controller is designed to coordinate all components of a quantum network—including quantum computers, quantum memories, and quantum switches—and make them usable on one network, without an application having to understand how every piece works, according to a blog p…
