Chronically absent: Why Black kids are still missing from classrooms

DUVAL COUNTY, FLORIDA, JUN 30 – Nearly 40% of Black K-12 students were chronically absent in 2022-2023 due to systemic barriers including housing instability and disproportionate discipline, Department of Education data shows.
