- Fréchette claimed nearly 58 per cent of the vote at the leadership convention in Drummondville, Que., defeating her only rival, longtime minister Bernard Drainville.
- With support from 41 MNAs and 17 ministers, Fréchette focused her campaign on economic issues, drawing from more than 20,500 eligible party members who participated in voting.
- Fréchette will lead the party until the Oct. 5 election, where political analyst Raphaël Melançon noted that retaining 12 seats would constitute a victory for the CAQ.
