Almost half of the African states are currently fighting cholera outbreaks. As the African Health Authority Africa CDC reported in its recent briefing, there were already 205,000 cases on the continent this year. Currently, 23 countries report active outbreaks. In the previous year, however, there were around 254,000 cases in 20 countries throughout 2024, said Ngashi Ngongo, who is responsible for disease outbreaks at Africa CDC.
