Zhenhao Zou: Student who drugged and raped 10 women in London and China jailed for life
UNITED KINGDOM, JUN 19 – Zhenhao Zou used social media and dating apps to drug and assault at least 10 women, with police suspecting over 50 victims in the UK and China, officials said.
- Zhenhao Zou, a 28-year-old Chinese PhD candidate, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 24 years for sexually assaulting 10 women after incapacitating them in both London and China.
- Zou targeted victims by befriending fellow Chinese students online and inviting them to his flats in London or China before drugging and raping them.
- He covertly recorded nine assaults on unconscious women and kept a collection of their personal items, while police discovered numerous videos and substances used to sedate victims in his residence.
- Judge Rosina Cottage described Zou as a manipulative sexual predator who planned a callous campaign of rape, causing victims devastating and long-term harm.
- The case led to 24 women contacting police suspecting they were attacked by Zou, and authorities continue to investigate and urge potential victims to come forward.
