- Strong AI-related demand drove SMIC revenue above $3 billion for the first time in the second quarter, beating analyst estimates and tightening global semiconductor supply chains.
- Profit attributable to shareholders tripled to $479.2 million while SMIC shipped 2.9 million 8-inch-equivalent wafers, a 14% increase from the previous quarter.
- Co-CEO Zhao Haijun said SMIC is negotiating with customers for fairer pricing, noting, "We believe we've reached top-tier industry standards in these areas."
- SMIC expects third-quarter revenue to rise 2% to 4% from the second quarter, with the company planning to adjust capacity and accelerate new production lines to ease supply constraints.
