A Chinese man convicted of killing a Chinese woman and injuring two Japanese nationals in a knife attack at a school bus stop near Shanghai last year has been executed, according to Japanese government officials.

The Chinese authorities executed a man for the murder of a Chinese woman who protected a Japanese mother and son during an attack last June in the eastern Chinese city of Suzhou, the Japanese press reported last night.
