Five agencies now require special export licenses for three chemicals used to make illicit fentanyl, as China expands controls on shipments to North America.

- China also warned about eight other chemicals usable in synthetic drug production, mandating strict business compliance; Chinese and United States authorities recently collaborated, arresting five suspects this month in a joint investigation.
- The Supreme Court struck down Trump's 2025 tariffs on Chinese goods in February; while China previously dismissed American accusations, this joint enforcement action signals a shift in bilateral cooperation.
