Child injured by stun gun found near Labrador playground
RCMP say the child suffered minor injuries after finding a brass-knuckle-shaped stun gun, and investigators have asked the public for information.
On Tuesday, a child found a stun gun across from the Ford Street playground along Campbell Street in Happy Valley-Goose Bay and accidentally shocked themselves, the RCMP reported.
Shaped like brass knuckles with sharp metal prongs, the rechargeable device was made of plastic and metal and easily purchased online, according to Jesse Donaghey.
Labrador District RCMP Insp Danny Williams said officers seized and disposed of the stun gun after patrolling the area, though they located no other weapons.
The child suffered minor injuries and did not require medical attention, Donaghey confirmed, noting the victim had become curious about the unfamiliar device.
Williams called the discovery 'very concerning' and urged parents to remain vigilant while police continue investigating the weapon's origin and ask anyone with information to come forward.
