Admiral Swaminathan took charge as the Indian Navy's 27th Chief of the Naval Staff earlier this year, succeeding Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi. A specialist in communication and electronic warfare with nearly four decades of service, he has previously commanded the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya and served as Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command before taking over as Navy chief.
