Chicopee woman wants $90K-plus from city in suit over sewage backup

SPRINGFIELD — A Chicopee woman claims the city failed to properly fix a broken sewer pipe at her home, causing a backup and her displacement, a recently filed lawsuit says. Sarah Hurley, a Lafayette Street resident, says she called the city’s Department of Public Works in February 2025 to fix a sewage backup on her property, according to a lawsuit filed last week in Hampden Superior Court.
