Chicopee council urges state to modernize funding to deal with ‘growing needs’ of roads

CHICOPEE — The Chicopee City Council is requesting the state Department of Transportation review its roadway funding formula to meet the growing needs of the city. In a resolution signed by three city councilors, which will be discussed at a council meeting Tuesday night, the resolution says the state’s Chapter 90 roadway program is “insufficient to meet the growing needs of maintaining and improving (Chicopee’s) infrastructure.”
