Chess Olympiad 2026: Israel forfeit Round 6 matches as Netherlands, Bulgaria decline Yom Kippur request
Just like their request on Sunday, Israel submitted a formal request to FIDE, the world's chess governing body, asking either to reschedule their sixth-round games to after 7:30 PM local time on Monday or to move them to Tuesday, which is a rest day in the event.
In the sixth round of the Chess Olympiad held on the evening of September 21st (Vietnam time), the Israeli men's and women's chess teams were respectively declared defeated by the Netherlands and Bulgaria.
