John Torode Will No Longer Headline Seaham Food Festival Following MasterChef Sacking
GREATER LONDON, ENGLAND, JUL 17 – Co-presenters John Torode and Gregg Wallace were dismissed after a law firm's report substantiated 45 misconduct allegations against Wallace and confirmed a racism claim against Torode.
- After an independent review by Lewis Silkin, John Torode and Gregg Wallace were dismissed by Banijay UK and the BBC on 17 July 2025, following substantiated misconduct allegations.
- A nine-month inquiry by Lewis Silkin found 45 of 83 allegations against Gregg Wallace and upheld a racism allegation against John Torode for using a highly offensive slur in 2018 or 2019.
- Richard Osman said on his podcast, `it's the worst racial slur there is`.
- A BBC spokesperson said, Banijay UK and the BBC will not renew Torode’s contract, and Durham County Council confirmed he will not appear at the Seaham Food Festival on August 2–3.
- After talks with contestants, Richard Osman said, the BBC decided to broadcast the completed MasterChef episodes.
