The Chania Fire Department was alerted when thick smoke began to come out of an apartment building on Ioannou Mastoraki Street, near the Frankish Cemetery, on Sunday afternoon. Six firefighters with two vehicles rushed to the scene, as did the police, after neighbors had seen a resident leaving the house.
