Nicolette Hawthorne, a former collegiate athlete, military family member, and spouse of retired NFL player Anttaj "Taj" Hawthorne, founded MAVRX in 2013 to simplify the relocation process for individuals and families, especially athletes.
Rooted in the spirit of the "maverick," MAVRX was first to market with an innovative approach that revolutionized short-term, fully furnished athlete housing and reshaped the relocation experience for high-performing clients.
MAVRX has been recognized for its rapid growth, earning a spot on the Inc. 5000 list four times and receiving its official Women's Business Enterprise certification from the Women's Business Enterprise National Council in 2023, marking a milestone in a historically male-led industry.
MAVRX launched Pitch Initiative, a nonprofit dedicated to creating financial autonomy and youth sports accessibility for women and girls, allocating a portion of every MAVRX stay to fund its charitable programs, which included sponsoring North High School's all-girls flag football team in Phoenix, AZ.
