The Iowa City Downtown District hosted sixth annual Downtown Block Party on Saturday, June 28, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event hosted a variety of entertainment including free music, food, and  activities. Cedar Rapids woman hits tree with car following Iowa City block party

Lang 6/29/25 A reportedly intoxicated Cedar Rapids woman hit a tree with her 2014 Subaru Legacy while leaving downtown Iowa City hours after the annual downtown block party. Iowa City Police say 22-year-old Lila Novak of 10th Street SE struck a tree in front of The Whistler Apartments on the 400 block of Iowa Avenue at 2:00 Sunday morning.
