CJ Carr Leads Notre Dame Past No. 1 Miami in Final-Snap Win
Carr threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns as Notre Dame rallied late to keep its College Football Playoff hopes alive.
Saturday at Notre Dame Stadium, Notre Dame defeated top-ranked and undefeated Miami 31-24. The victory keeps the Fighting Irish's 2026 season alive after last season's damaging loss to the Hurricanes.
The Fighting Irish established a commanding early lead, stretching the advantage to 10-0 in the second quarter. They maintained momentum, leading 24-3 early in the third quarter when victory appeared assured.
Quarterback CJ Carr completed 29 of 40 passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns. Carr connected with Jordan Faison for a 27-yard score and Micah Gilbert for two scoring grabs.
With the win, Notre Dame is expected to move into the top 10 rankings. The victory keeps College Football Playoff dreams viable, providing the team relief after missing the playoff field last year.
The Fighting Irish face another Catholic university, Boston College, next week in their continued playoff push. They must also navigate Syracuse and SMU to remain in contention for postseason play.
