- Wakode, 22, died Friday evening hours after a professor questioned him about alleged "academic malpractice" involving a mobile phone and ChatGPT during an examination.
- CCTV captured him entering his hostel room at approximately 1:25 PM, with footage showing "After leaving the examination hall, Sahil moved across the campus. He reached his hostel room at approximately 1:25 PM. He did not step out of the room thereafter," a Crime Branch official said.
- Following a complaint from Wakode's parents, Powai Police registered an FIR on Saturday under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act, alleging caste-based harassment.
- The Crime Branch is likely to summon Professor Suryanarayana Doolla for questioning as investigators cross-reference camera feeds to map exact movements, while security remains stepped up at the campus amid ongoing tensions.
