The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) recently amended its National Defense Mobilization Law. The amendments, which include several changes such as changing the term "reserve personnel" to "backup troops" and allowing the expropriation of civilian resources, have attracted considerable attention. Some experts believe that this is ultimately a stepping stone towards a conflict over Taiwan.
